Coastal Connections

Since its founding in 2002, Coastal Connections has become one of the leading providers of engineered fiber optic cables and terminations in the world.  It serves the medical, space, defense, and industrial markets.  Their medical cables are sold around the world for laser surgery and medical diagnosis. Coastal Connections’ space cables are used for laser communication and in laboratory experiments.  And their defense cables are used on land and in aircraft for communications and sensing.  Coastal Connections manufactures industrial cables for strain, pressure and positional sensing.  They serve all of these markets by having great people and stocking hundreds of specialty fibers, connectors and cables.

Andy Devine, President and Founder

Prior to founding Coastal Connections, Andy Devine was a Program Manager, Business Unit Leader, and Director of Operations at RIFOCS, a fiber optic company.  As a Program Manager, he qualified and built fiber optic cables for thermal cycling in space. Prior to RIFOCS he developed tools to install small optical cables and arrays in the ocean and was an inspector for a subsea cable installation in Malaysia.  Andy holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering Technology from California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly), San Luis Obispo, Ca and an MBA from Pepperdine, Malibu, CA.
Ryan Laudato, Quality and Manufacturing Manager
Ryan Laudato joined Coastal Connections in 2008 and is currently the Quality and Manufacturing Manager.  His prior professional experiences include positions with Aerospace, Telecommunications, and FDA regulated companies.  Ryan holds a BS in Industrial Engineering from California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly), San Luis Obispo and a MS in Quality Assurance from California State University, Dominguez Hills.
Carl Castro, Sales Engineer
Prior to joining Coastal Connections, Carl was a Mechanical Design Engineer in the electrical components manufacturing industry catered towards the Medical, Military, Test and Measurement, and Green Energy companies. He developed a high efficient boost inductor while researching at the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth College which is now patent pending. Carl holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA.
